Mississippi State Alumni Continue to Make Impact in Professional Baseball

Mississippi State University has a strong tradition of producing professional baseball talent. In 2026, 51 former Bulldogs are competing in various levels of pro ball, including eight in Major League Baseball, according to a recent update from the school.

Among those in the majors are All-Stars Adam Frazier, Brent Rooker, Jordan Westburg, and Brandon Woodruff, as well as World Series champion Nathaniel Lowe. MSU has produced 72 major leaguers, 13 All-Stars, seven World Series champions, and 21 first-round draft picks in its history, with several players currently making impacts at various levels.

In the majors, Justin Foscue of the Texas Rangers is batting .256 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs. Adam Frazier, with the Los Angeles Angels, has a .200 batting average after being activated from the injured list on Aug. 4. Nathaniel Lowe, with the Cleveland Guardians, went 2-for-5 with a home run on Aug. 6. Brent Rooker, with the Oakland Athletics, will miss the rest of the season following knee surgery, while Jordan Westburg of the Baltimore Orioles is sidelined after Tommy John surgery in May.

Other Bulldogs are making strides in the minors. Konnor Pilkington was released by the Washington Nationals organization after a stint with Rochester, and Klayton Kersh of the San Francisco Giants’ Triple-A team is currently on the injured list. Several prospects, such as Landon Sims and Cade Smith, are also actively contributing at various levels, with some facing injuries or recent roster moves.

Mississippi State’s rich baseball history continues to be reflected in its alumni’s ongoing journeys through professional baseball, highlighting the school’s reputation for developing high-caliber talent.
