Alcorn State Soccer Players Earn Preseason SWAC Honors

Alcorn State University soccer players Annick Zouma, Larissa Joso Luma and Ainara Aldeano received preseason all-conference honors from the Southwestern Athletic Conference on Friday. The league announced its preseason first- and second-team selections in Birmingham, Alabama.

Zouma, a sophomore midfielder from Yaoundé, Cameroon, was named SWAC Midfielder of the Year. She played and started 16 games last season, logging 1,372 minutes and leading the team with 19 points. Zouma scored five goals and recorded nine assists, with a team-high 32 shots and a 62.5% shot-on-goal percentage. She was also named to the All-SWAC First Team.

Joso Luma, a defender from Limbe, Cameroon, earned first-team honors after playing 16 games with 15 starts last season. She logged 1,349 minutes and contributed to two shutouts. Joso Luma scored six goals and totaled 12 points, with 20 shots and a shot-on-target rate of 80%. She scored two game-winning goals and was recognized on the first team.

Ainara Aldeano, a midfielder from Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, was named to the preseason second team. She appeared in all 17 games last year, starting 16. Aldeano scored five goals and had three assists, finishing with 13 points. She also recorded eight shots on target, with a 47.1% shooting accuracy.

The conference also announced Czaske Deane of Alabama A&M as preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Kaylen Jankans of Grambling State as Defensive Player of the Year, and Taylor Osborn of Jackson State as Goalkeeper of the Year.
