Troy, Ala. — Alcorn State and Troy battled to a 3-3 draw Sunday afternoon in a back-and-forth women’s soccer match, according to school officials.
The Lady Braves finished with 31 shots, their highest total of the season. Alcorn struck first in the 18th minute when Larissa Joso Luma scored, assisted by Annick Zouma and Ainara Aldeano.
Troy responded in the 23rd minute to tie the game, but Joso Luma gave Alcorn a 2-1 lead before halftime with her second goal in the 34th minute, assisted by Grace Ambrose and Zouma.
The Trojans equalized in the 67th minute on a goal from Irene Torres. Just over two minutes later, Zouma put the Lady Braves ahead again, but Troy’s Uncapher converted a penalty kick in the 87th minute to secure the 3-3 tie.
It was Alcorn’s first draw of the season. The teams combined for 20 shots in the second half. The Lady Braves will next face No. 11 North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m.
