Belhaven Men’s Soccer Recognized for Academic Excellence by United Soccer Coaches

The Belhaven University men’s soccer team has earned the 2025-26 United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award, the organization announced Friday. The Blazers were among 326 men’s programs nationwide recognized for maintaining a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year.

Overall, United Soccer Coaches honored 777 college programs, including 175 schools with both their men’s and women’s teams recognized. The award follows a strong showing on the CCS Academic All-Conference Team, where 20 Belhaven men’s soccer players earned honors for maintaining at least a 3.30 GPA.

Those 20 selections were part of a conference-leading group of 137 Belhaven student-athletes to receive CCS Academic All-Conference honors, the highest total since the award’s inception in 2022-23. The team finished the season with a 10-6-4 record and advanced to the CCS Tournament semifinals, marking their first double-digit wins in back-to-back seasons since 2014 and 2015.

Seven players received All-CCS recognition, led by Danny Bahena, who was named the conference’s Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight season. For more information, the full release from United Soccer Coaches is available online.
