The Millsaps College volleyball program has received the AVCA Team Academic Award for the seventh consecutive year, the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Thursday. The award recognizes teams that maintain a high level of academic achievement.
This marks the eighth time in nine seasons that the Majors have earned the award. Millsaps will open its 2026 season at Belhaven University on Sept. 1 in Jackson, Mississippi.
The AVCA, which represents more than 9,500 volleyball coaches across various levels, promotes the sport through leadership, advocacy, and professional development. The association’s mission is to advance volleyball nationally and increase its exposure.
Founded in 1890 in Jackson, Mississippi, Millsaps College is a liberal arts institution known for academic excellence and fostering open inquiry. The college has received recognition from several publications and organizations, including U.S. News & World Report and Forbes Magazine.
