Belhaven Volleyball earns AVCA Academic Award for 2025-26

Lexington, Ky. — Belhaven University’s volleyball team has been recognized with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 academic year. The award honors teams that maintain a GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale throughout the school year, according to the AVCA.

In total, 1,432 teams across high school and college levels earned the distinction this year, demonstrating strong academic performance alongside athletic success. AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon praised the achievement, noting the dedication of coaches and players in balancing academics and athletics.

On the court, the Blazers had a successful season under second-year head coach Olivia Killelea. They opened at home with sweeps of McMurry and Centenary and returned to the CCS Tournament later in the year. Four Belhaven players received All-CCS honors for the 2026 season.

The AVCA aims to promote the growth of volleyball through leadership, advocacy, and professional development. Its membership includes more than 10,000 coaches, club directors, and industry professionals dedicated to advancing the sport.
