The Millsaps College men’s golf team competed over the weekend at the Transylvania WildBat Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky. The team finished seventh out of 10 teams after three rounds at the University Club of Kentucky.
Senior Jason Howe led the Majors, tying for 16th place among 71 golfers with a total score of 226, or 10 over par. Junior Miles Harrison finished tied for 22nd at 224 (+11) after rounds of 76, 78, and 70. Fellow junior Charlie Berglund tied for 37th with a score of 229 (+16), while freshman Matthew Yeung and sophomore Noble Burns both tied for 40th with 230 (+17). Burns competed as an individual, and Yeung’s rounds included two 78s and a 76. Sophomore Jack Ritter closed out the team scoring, tying for 50th at 233 (+20).
The Majors will return to competition Sept. 14-15 at the John Nellermoe Classic, hosted by Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas, at Starcke Park Golf Course.
Team scores saw Webster University take the top spot with a total of 857 (+5), followed by Mount Union University and Randolph-Macon College. Millsaps finished with a score of 903 (+51).
