Millsaps Golf Teams Finish Strong at SAA Championships

Dickson, Tenn. — The Millsaps College men’s and women’s golf teams wrapped up three rounds at the Southern Athletic Association Championships at Greystone Golf Club on Sunday. Several players posted top-40 finishes, with the men’s team finishing 12th overall and the women’s team in eighth.

Junior Julius Kroell led the men’s team with a final round of 72, improving nine spots to tie for 35th at 231 (+15). Senior Steven Noack also finished tied for 35th, shooting 76 in the final round for a total of 231 (+15). Noack’s performance marked his best 54-hole tournament as a Millsaps major.

Other top finishers for the men included sophomore Charlie Berglund, who tied for 40th at 233 (+17), and sophomore Miles Harrison, who finished 45th at 238 (+22). Freshman Jack Ritter and sophomore Noble Burns also competed, ending 47th and 48th respectively.

On the women’s side, sophomore Abigail Cerwick carded her best three-round score of her collegiate career, finishing tied for 36th at 252 (+36). She closed the final round with a 76, moving up four spots from Saturday. Cerwick’s score was six strokes better than her freshman total at last season’s conference championship. Both Cerwick and Noack were named to the SAA All-Sportsmanship Team.

The men’s team finished with a total score of 927 (+63), placing 12th. Sewanee led the field with a total of 837 (-27). The women’s team ended with a score of 1008 (+144), in eighth place, with Sewanee also leading the women’s leaderboard at 892 (+28).
