Millsaps College Celebrates 62 Student-Athletes at 2026 Spring Commencement
Jackson, Mississippi — Millsaps College honored 62 student-athletes during its 132nd annual commencement on Saturday, May 9, inside Christ United Church. The graduates were recognized by college President Frank Neville, many walking across the stage to receive their degrees amid applause and handshakes.
Several students received individual awards for academic achievement, Greek life, or honorary honors. These graduates will remain part of the Millsaps community as they look ahead to their futures.
Eleven athletic programs had at least one graduate or postgraduate. Overall, 50 of the 121 senior student-athletes, or 41 percent, earned or plan to earn bachelor’s degrees. The undergraduate cohort included 47 student-athletes and 111 students overall. Additionally, three of seven December 2025 graduates participated in athletics during the 2024-25 season.
Postgraduate degrees were also awarded. Twenty-three students, including 12 athletes, earned or will earn master’s degrees, representing 52 percent of postgraduate candidates. These included students from various sports and academic disciplines, with a focus on business, education, and health sciences.
Some of the notable academic honors included Beta Gamma Sigma, the Ford Teaching Fellows, and Omicron Delta Kappa awards. Several students received individual distinctions, such as the Lewis and Reiff Award and the Connie S. Schimmel Award in Education. Multiple students also earned departmental or college-wide awards for leadership and scholarship.
