Jones College’s softball season ends at NJCAA Division II World Series
Boiling Springs, North Carolina — Jones College’s softball season concluded Sunday night at the NJCAA Division II World Series at Gardner-Webb University. The Bobcats survived one elimination game earlier in the day but fell short in their next matchup against nationally ranked Des Moines Area, ending their postseason run.
Due to heavy rain and unplayable conditions at Tyger River Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina, all games were relocated to Gardner-Webb University, 45 minutes away. Jones defeated MACCC rival Copiah-Lincoln, 5-3, in a third straight elimination game before losing to Des Moines Area, 5-0.
The Bobcats finished the season with a 50-12 record, marking their seventh 50-win season since 2014 and their second consecutive with at least 50 wins under head coach Tori Dew. In the victory over Co-Lin, Jones answered every challenge, with a key third-inning rally helping them take control. They scored five runs in that inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Mary Kimble Price and a solo shot by Mabry Eason.
Morgan Landry earned the win, improving to 10-2, while Madison Sawyer recorded her second save. Price finished with three RBIs, and Andersen went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. The Bobcats totaled seven hits in the game.
Later that day, Jones faced Des Moines Area (59-11). The Bears took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning and broke the game open in the third with a two-run homer from Mackenzie Mohler and a solo shot by Mo Purdy. Morgan Neuroth added another solo homer in the fourth.
Jones threatened throughout but could not capitalize against Kierra Jungers, who pitched a five-hit shutout. Andersen and Eason each had two hits, but the Bobcats stranded six runners and left runners on base in crucial moments. Breelyn Cain took the loss after allowing four runs in three innings, with Sawyer pitching three innings of relief.
The Bobcats finished fourth nationally, their highest placing since 2014, with a second straight 50-win season. The sophomore class recorded a combined 102-22 record, including two MACCC runner-up finishes and a region championship in 2025. Jones has made seven championship game appearances and holds a 42-20 record in NJCAA Division II World Series play.
