Former Ole Miss Player Madison Scott Signs with New York Liberty as Developmental Prospect

NEW YORK — Madison Scott, a former standout at the University of Mississippi, has signed a developmental player contract with the New York Liberty, the team announced Thursday.

Scott is the third Ole Miss player currently in the WNBA, joining Shakira Austin and Cotie McMahon of the Washington Mystics. Her signing follows a distinguished college career during which she became one of the SEC’s top players.

During the 2024-25 season, Scott averaged 11.8 points and 3.7 assists per game, leading Ole Miss in both categories. She scored in double figures in 21 games and became just the fourth player in school history to surpass 1,600 career points and 1,000 rebounds.

Her accomplishments earned her a spot on the 2025 All-SEC Second Team and recognition as a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American. Scott also received the 2025 Gillom Trophy, awarded to the best women’s basketball player in Mississippi.

Under her leadership, Ole Miss secured at least 10 conference wins and 20 overall victories for four straight seasons. The Rebels reached the SEC Tournament quarterfinals five times and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 twice in three years.

Drafted 14th overall in the second round of the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings, Scott was traded to the Washington Mystics, appearing in nine games during the 2025 season. Her move to the Liberty represents the next chapter in her professional career.
