Ole Miss Basketball’s Cotie McMahon Wins 2026 Gillom Trophy

PHILADELPHIA, Miss. — Cotie McMahon of Ole Miss received the 2026 Gillom Trophy on Monday at the Golden Moon Casino. The award is presented annually to Mississippi’s most outstanding women’s basketball player, honoring Ole Miss legend Peggie Gillom-Granderson.

McMahon, a Dayton, Ohio, native, was selected 11th overall in the first round of the WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics two days before receiving the trophy. She beat out finalists Madison Francis of Mississippi State and Jakayla Johnson of Southern Miss for the award.

This marks the fifth time in six seasons that a Rebel has won the Gillom Trophy. Previous winners include Shakira Austin in 2021 and 2022, Angel Baker in 2023, and Madison Scott in 2025.

McMahon has earned numerous honors this season, including a spot on the Cheryl Miller Final Five list, the Wooden Award National Ballot, and the WBCA Regional Finalist list. She was also named SEC Newcomer of the Year and earned First Team All-SEC honors.

In her single season at Ole Miss, McMahon averaged 19.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, and three assists per game. She scored 703 points, the fourth-highest single-season total in school history, and recorded 34 double-digit scoring games, surpassing Gillom-Granderson’s record.

Her performance helped Ole Miss make the NCAA tournament for the fifth consecutive year. Fans are encouraged to buy season tickets for the 2026-2027 season as the team continues to improve under head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin.
