Northwest Mississippi men’s golf finishes 10th at MACCC Championships, season ends
Broookhaven, Miss. — The Northwest Mississippi Community College men’s golf team finished 10th out of 12 teams at the MACCC Championships held at The Club at Ole Brook. The team shot a combined 43-over par, their second-best score of the season, behind a 40-over at the Lou Hart Invitational in March, according to the school.
Head Coach Adam Payne, in his first full season, saw his team make notable progress. Caesar Ingendorf led the Rangers, shooting four-over on both days for a total of eight-over, earning a 22nd-place finish. Ingendorf posted two birdies on the front nine on the first day but did not record any on the back nine. On the second day, he birdied holes 12 and 14.
Freshman Cole Elander finished 33rd with an 11-over score. Elander started strong with two-over on the first day, including birdies on holes one, two, fourteen, and seventeen. However, he struggled on day two, bogeying five times and double-bogeying three times, resulting in a nine-over score for that round.
Atharv Sharma placed 36th after shooting 12-over. Sharma had a rough first day with five bogeys, three double bogeys, and a three-over hole, finishing at 10-over. He improved significantly on the second day, birdieing holes four and ten and eagling hole 16, which helped him jump 13 spots on the leaderboard—the most of any Ranger.
Braden Beverage finished 40th with a total score of 15-over. He was consistent across both days, shooting eight-over with two birdies on day one and seven-over with three birdies on day two. Landon Masterson competed only on the first day, posting an 11-over score after four birdies, four bogeys, and four double bogeys. Drew Dabbs, who played only on the second day, birdied holes four and six but had four bogeys and two double bogeys, ending with a six-over score.
Due to their 10th-place finish, the Rangers did not qualify for the NJCAA Gulf South District Tournament. The team and fans can follow updates through the NWCC social media accounts or at nwccrangers.com.
