Ole Miss Women’s Basketball’s Christeen Iwuala Signs with Washington Mystics
Washington, D.C. — Ole Miss women’s basketball player Christeen Iwuala has signed a rookie scale contract with the Washington Mystics, the team announced Thursday.
Iwuala joins former Rebels Shakira Austin and Madison Scott, who are already with the Mystics, along with recent first-round pick Cotie McMahon. The signing marks Iwuala’s entry into the WNBA after a standout college career.
During her senior season at Ole Miss, Iwuala averaged 12.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, nearly recording a double-double in every game. She contributed to more than half of the Rebels’ double-doubles this year, a feat she first achieved in 11 games since Madison Scott did so in the 2022-23 season.
She was named to the All-Tournament Teams at the Cherokee Invitational and the Coast 2 Coast Classic during her nonconference play. Iwuala is one of three Rebels to shoot over 60% from the field in a season, joining Promise Taylor and Eugenia Conner.
Following her college career, Iwuala was named MVP of the Lilly Women’s College All-Star Game after a strong performance in Phoenix. Ole Miss women’s basketball continues to build momentum, with season tickets for the 2026-2027 season now available. The team has made five consecutive NCAA tournaments and is trending upward.
