Jeff Brantley Inducted Into College Baseball Hall of Fame

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Jeff Brantley, a former Mississippi State pitcher, will join the 2026 class of the College Baseball Hall of Fame, the organization announced Thursday. Brantley is recognized for his achievements during his college career from 1982 to 1985 and his success in Major League Baseball.

Brantley holds the record for the most career wins in Southeastern Conference history with 45. During his time at Mississippi State, he was a key part of the 1985 team, leading the conference with 18 wins and earning consensus first-team All-America honors. He is the fourth Mississippi State player to be inducted, joining Will Clark, Rafael Palmeiro, and coach Ron Polk.

The right-hander from Florence, Alabama, also earned multiple accolades, including two first-team All-SEC selections and induction into the Mississippi State Hall of Fame in 2003, the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in 2011, and the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2026. Brantley’s college success paved the way for a 14-year Major League Baseball career, during which he played for the Giants, Reds, Cardinals, Phillies, and Rangers. He pitched in the 1989 World Series and was an All-Star in 1990. In 1996, Brantley led the National League with 44 saves and won the Rolaids Relief Man Award.

Following his playing career, Brantley spent four years as a broadcaster for ESPN and has served as a color analyst on Cincinnati Reds radio broadcasts since 2006. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Feb. 11, 2027, in Overland Park, Kansas.
