Belhaven Men’s Soccer Named Second in CCS Preseason Poll
The Belhaven University men’s soccer team is projected to finish second in the 2026 Collegiate Conference of the South preseason poll, the league announced Monday. The Blazers received 21 points and one first-place vote.
Belhaven finished last season with a 10-6-4 record, reaching the CCS Tournament semifinals for the second consecutive year. The team returns 26 players who saw action in 2025, led by defender Ciaran Colvin, a two-time first-team All-CCS selection who appeared in 19 matches last season. Senior forward Courtland Williams also returns after tying for the team lead with six goals and 14 points, adding two assists and two game-winning goals.
The Blazers’ defense was strong in 2025, allowing an average of 1.10 goals per match and recording eight shutouts. They also ranked among the conference’s top attacking teams, scoring 46 goals and averaging 2.30 per game while outshooting opponents 332-168. The team added 21 newcomers, including 14 freshmen and seven transfers.
Belhaven begins its season Tuesday at United States Sports University in Mobile, Alabama, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The team will then play three away matches before hosting its home opener on Sept. 10 against LeTourneau at Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
