Mississippi Christian University Kicks Off September with Busy Weekend in Cross Country, Soccer, and Volleyball
Clinton, Miss. — Mississippi Christian University begins September with a busy weekend across four sports, including volleyball, soccer, and cross country. The teams will face a variety of opponents both on the road and at home.
The volleyball team travels to Arkadelphia, Arkansas, for the Reddie-Tiger Invitational at Ouachita Baptist University. The Choctaws open the tournament Friday against Erskine at 1 p.m. and face host Ouachita Baptist at 5 p.m. They return Saturday to play Texas-Tyler at 9 a.m. and Missouri S&T at 3:30 p.m. The four-match weekend allows the team to test itself against different competition early in the season.
The women’s soccer team begins a two-match road trip in Oklahoma, opening Thursday at 2 p.m. against Oklahoma Christian in Edmond. The Lady Choctaws then travel to Ada for a noon game Saturday against East Central. These are the first away matches of the season for Mississippi Christian.
The men’s soccer team hosts two matches at Robert P. Longabaugh Field in Clinton. The team faces Eckerd College at 4 p.m. Friday and Florida Southern College at 11 a.m. Sunday. Both opponents are from Florida’s Sunshine State Conference, providing early-season tests from outside the Gulf South Conference.
The cross country teams kick off their seasons Friday at the Mississippi Christian Opener at Choctaw Trails in Clinton. Both teams are scheduled to compete at 6 p.m., marking their first meet of 2026 after preseason preparations.
The schedule includes nine events over four days, with teams competing in various locations across the weekend. Mississippi Christian’s fall season continues throughout September with multiple competitions planned.
