Alcorn State Track & Field Sets School Records at Georgia Tech Invitational

Alcorn State University’s men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at the Georgia Tech Invitational on April 17-18 at George C. Griffin Track & Field Facility in Atlanta. The event featured top-tier competition, and the Braves achieved several personal bests and school records, according to head coach Alonzo Banks.

On the women’s side, the 4×100-meter relay team of Brianna Wilson, Sariah Magee, Taliya Spurlock, and Izayla Harris finished second with a time of 45.21 seconds, setting a school record. The 4×400-meter relay team of Sanaa Parker, Wilson, Magee, and Harris finished third at 3:41.87, also breaking a school record. Kaylin White posted a personal best in the long jump with a mark of 5.90 meters, earning third place.

Sanaa Parker achieved a personal-best time of 1:00.50 in the 400-meter hurdles. Magee set new personal records in the 200 meters (24.20 seconds, 10th place) and the 100 meters (11.81 seconds, 11th place).

In men’s events, Jadan Miller qualified for an upcoming LSU-hosted meet after recording a discus throw of 50.38 meters, finishing fourth. Miller also placed 12th in the shot put with a mark of 15.40 meters. Desmyn McCall set personal bests in the 400-meter hurdles (53.78 seconds) and the 100-meter hurdles (14.58 seconds). Ethan Campbell also set a personal best in the same race with a time of 54.20 seconds.

The men’s 4×100-meter relay team of Beethoven Phanord, Trellas Forrest, Joe Coleman, and Derrick Williams finished fourth with a time of 40.72 seconds. The team next competes at the LSU Alumni Gold meet in Baton Rouge on April 25.
