Southern Miss Softball Visits Ole Miss for Midweek Matchup
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss softball will travel to Oxford to face Ole Miss on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium, according to university officials.
The Golden Eagles, with a 30-19 record and an 11-7 mark in Sun Belt Conference play, will compete against Ole Miss, which holds a 27-21 record and is 2-16 in SEC games. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+ with Will Kollmeyer calling play-by-play and Missy Dickerson providing analysis. Live scoring will be available through Stat Broadcast, officials said.
Southern Miss has won five of its last six conference series and most recently defeated Texas State 2-1 in a weekend series. Hannah Christian leads the team nationally with 65 hits, and Kayla Giardina ranks 31st in the nation with 15 wins. The teams have met 24 times historically, with Southern Miss holding a 4-8 record in Oxford. Their most recent matchup was a 2-1 victory in 10 innings at Hattiesburg in February.
Several Golden Eagles rank among national leaders, including Abbi Troquille, who is tied for second nationally with 21 hit-by-pitches. Kayce Bennett is 15th in stolen bases with 12, while Giardina is 16th in walks allowed per seven innings at 1.20. Nealy McManus is 17th in assists with 111. Southern Miss is also among the top 25 teams nationally in triples, shutouts, and fielding percentage.
Ole Miss enters the game after losing three straight against No. 15 LSU, including two two-run losses and one one-run defeat. The Rebels are 12-9 at home and have won their last 10 midweek games. Madi George leads Ole Miss with a .381 batting average, 18 home runs, and 46 RBIs. Lilly Witten pitches for the Rebels with a 2.76 ERA and a .222 opponent batting average, officials said.
The Rebels lead the all-time series 17-7, including a 4-8 record when playing at home. Southern Miss secured a 2-1 victory in 10 innings in their last meeting in 2025. The rivalry began in 2007 in Oxford, officials added.
