Alcorn State Punter Demetrion Duvall Named to FCS Preseason Watch List
Lorman, Mississippi — Demetrion Duvall of Alcorn State has been named to the 2026 Preseason Punter of the Year Watch List, the Augusta Sports Council announced Friday.
The list includes 14 FCS punters, selected based on criteria such as previous All-American and All-Conference honors, past semifinalists, and top performers from recent seasons. The list is not final, as the award winner does not need to appear on it to be selected.
Alcorn coach Cedric Thomas praised Duvall, now a junior, for his impact on special teams. “He is a big part of what gets us going when we need to turn the field or pin the opposition deep,” Thomas said. “Having him on this list speaks to his ability on the field. Off the field, he’s an even better human being.”
Duvall, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound Akron, Ohio, native, averaged 42.7 yards per punt in 2025. He recorded 49 punts for 2,093 yards, with a long of 63 yards against Florida A&M. He also placed 14 kicks inside the 20-yard line and had 13 punts of 50 yards or better, tied for second in the SWAC.
He was named to the SWAC Preseason First Team and recently received a BOXTOROW HBCU FCS Preseason All-American honor. The winner of the Punter of the Year Award will be chosen by a voting body consisting of FCS sports information directors and national sports writers. Nominations open August 15.

The Augusta Sports Council established the FCS Punter of the Year Award in 2019.
