West Point is first to 12 gold balls on the gridiron
It was a wet sticky night as the West Point Greenwave took on the Laurel Golden Tornadoes. Kahnen Daniels had 254 yards with 3 TDs as West Point wins their 12th state title.
West Point’s running attack was just too good today. Kahnen Daniels was running the ball all over the field. He scored the first touchdown of the game and had his team on a roll.
Laurel would answer right back with a touchdown of their own. Kobe Pierce was doing everything that he could to keep his team in the game today. The score was tied at 7 at the end of the first quarter.
Que Tillman-Evans had a great game as well. He was making plays that West Point needed him to make. We all knew we would not see many passing attempts from West Point. Through the third quarter, they only attempted two passes. At the end of the 3rd, they were up 21-7.
There was a lot of hard hitting going on in this game. West Point was laying the wood all game long. It is the Chris Chambliss way.
“All of them are special,” said Chambliss. “It’s hard to put one over the other. It felt pretty good especially after the last three.”
The fourth quarter kept rolling in West Point’s direction. They would hold on to win their 12th state title.
“It took us a long time, but we kept plugging til the end, and we got the job done.” said Daniels referring to West Point’s 12th state title. “Losing two year back to back kept that fire in us.”
