FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Savannah Van Gaalen shot a three-under 69 with two eagles in the final round, leading Southern Miss to a tie for 11th place at the Ben Connell Ram Classic, held at Ptarmigan Golf & Country Club. The Golden Eagles posted a final-round score of six-over 294, moving up two spots on the leaderboard, according to school officials.
Van Gaalen’s performance was the low round of the day for Southern Miss. She recorded four birdies to go with her two eagles and finished the tournament tied for 31st individually at four-over par. Morgan Guepet posted the second-best finish for the team, shooting a three-over 75 in the final round to finish at three-over for the tournament and tied for 27th.
Guepet was one of the most consistent players on par 5s throughout the tournament, ranking tied for sixth with a 4.58 scoring average and finishing 5-under on par 5s. Louise Cuyvers carded a three-over 75 in the final round and tied for 36th at six-over, while Liv Romer also shot a 75 to finish tied for 50th at 10-over. Chloe Stevenazzi rounded out the scoring with a four-over 76, placing tied for 63rd at 13-over overall, according to the university.
UNLV dominated the team competition, finishing 19-under par. Washington and San Diego State finished second and third, respectively, at four-under and three-under. Southern Miss tied with Hawaii at 22-over, finishing one spot ahead of Northern Colorado.
