Ole Miss women’s basketball signs Christeen Iwuala from UCLA
Ole Miss head women’s basketball coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin remains busy in the portal, signing Christeen Iwuala from UCLA on Tuesday, to add to the Rebel roster for the 2024-25 campaign.
“Christeen exemplifies everything I want in a student athlete on my team; tough, physical, smart, charismatic and respectful!” said McPhee-McCuin. “We are grateful to have her here with us and we are committed to helping her blossom on and off the court.”
A San Antonio, Texas, native, Iwuala joins the Rebels after spending her first two seasons at UCLA. With the Bruins, Iwuala averaged 3.3 points per game and made 68 appearances while shooting 47.5% from the floor.
Iwuala set a career-best 10-point mark in four games, including in PAC-12 play against Arizona State this past season. As a freshman, Iwuala registered a career-best eight rebounds twice in non-conference action.
Out of Midway High School, Iwuala was touted as the 49th prospect in the nation according to espnW’s HoopGurlz and earned Texas Girl’s Coaches Association All-State honors in 2020.
Joining DeeDee Hagemann and Starr Jacobs from the transfer portal, Iwuala is one of five newcomers this next season. Two freshmen join the mix as well with Heloisa Carerra and Sira Thienou.
