The University of Mississippi’s cross country teams are set to compete at the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri, on Friday, September 25. The women’s invitational 6K race is scheduled to start at 8 a.m., followed by the men’s 8K at 8:45 a.m. An open 6K race will take place at 9:45 a.m., with additional Ole Miss runners participating.
Ole Miss opened the 2026 season at the Memphis Twilight meet on September 5. The women’s team won the team title, with four runners finishing in the top 10. Alicia Finnis led the Rebels with a third-place finish. Adie Luna, Addy Mitchell, Brooke Preputnick, and Jillian Candelino also finished in the top 20.
In the men’s race, Ole Miss placed all five scorers in the top 20, led by Zack Gilbertson in sixth place. Ky Hehir finished in the top 10, with John Shoemaker (11th), Owen Kelley (13th), and Luke Hurley (16th) also among the top finishers. This meet marks the final joint race of the regular season, as the teams will split for subsequent competitions.
Following the Gans Creek Classic, the men’s team will compete at the Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wisconsin, on October 9, while the women will race at Pre Nationals in Terre Haute, Indiana, on October 16.
