Ole Miss golfers La Sasso, Macnab set for prestigious Arnold Palmer Cup

Jul 3, 2024 – Following stellar seasons on the course for Ole Miss men’s and women’s golf, Michael La Sasso and Caitlyn Macnab will represent the Rebels at the 2024 Arnold Palmer cup from July 5-7 in Lahinch, Ireland. La Sasso has been selected to represent the United States, while Macnab will represent the International contingent. Ole Miss is one of seven schools in the nation to have both a male and female golfer appear in the event.
The annual tournament includes both men’s and women’s collegiate golfers from the United States taking on International colleagues in a team competition. Currently, Team USA leads the all-time series 14-12-1.
La Sasso is the first men’s Rebel to be selected for the event since 2018, while Macnab returns for her second consecutive year. This marks the fifth straight year that a women’s Rebel player or coach has received an invite to the prestigious tournament.In his first season as a Rebel, La Sasso made his presence known immediately as he went on to become the 12th All-American in program history. The Raleigh, North Carolina, native competed in all 10 tournaments for the Rebels and led the team with a stroke average of 69.25 as he went on to be named First Team All-SEC and earn a spot on the PING Southeast All-Region team.
Macnab concluded what has been a career year for the Rebel, securing two medalist finishes and All-American honors for the third straight season. The incoming senior made her mark in the record book, shooting the second lowest season stroke average of any Rebel in program history with a 70.92 in 12 tournaments. Along with being invited to play at the 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Macnab was named to the All-SEC Second Team and the spring watch list for the ANNIKA Award.
The 2024 Arnold Palmer cup is set to run July 5-7 at Lahinch Golf Club in Lahinch, Ireland. Pairings and times for Friday’s mixed fourball have yet to be announced.
