Jones College Men’s Golf Wins First NJCAA Division II Tournament

CORINTH, Miss. — Jones College’s men’s golf team made history Tuesday at the 2026 Northeast Fall Invitational, capturing its first-ever NJCAA Division II tournament victory. The Bobcats defeated two-time national champion Mississippi Gulf Coast in a playoff after both teams finished tied at 11-under par following 54 holes.

All five Jones players and all five Gulf Coast golfers played the first playoff hole, with the top four scores counting. Gulf Coast finished with three pars and a bogey, finishing at 1-over. Jones posted two pars and two birdies, totaling 2-under, to win the playoff. Meridian placed third at 10-under, one shot behind the leaders.

Jones was in fourth place during the final round but rallied over the last 18 holes to tie for the lead. The Bobcats shot a 3-under final round, while Gulf Coast shot 10-under, leaving both teams tied after three rounds.

Oban Webber led Jones individually, finishing tied for fifth at 5-under. Webber opened with a 4-under round and shot 2-under in the second round before ending with a 1-over final round. Julius Hautmann finished seventh at 4-under, after an even-par first round, a 1-under second round, and a 3-under final round. Jax Poole tied for 13th at 1-under, with rounds of 2-under, 3-over, and 2-under.

Pelle Fox tied for 26th at 6-over, and Mack Hutson and Matthew Eubank, competing as an individual, tied for 41st at 14-over. Eubank’s rounds included a 4-over, a 1-over, and a 1-over.

Jackson Autry of Meridian earned individual medalist honors at 11-under, four shots ahead of Gulf Coast’s Paul Hoefer at 7-under. The last Jones tournament victory came in 2004, when the team was part of NJCAA Division III at Hillandale Golf Course in Corinth.

The team’s next event is the Jim Redgate Invitational on Oct. 5-6 at Briarwood Country Club in Meridian.
