Longhorns Top Mississippi State in Three-Set Volleyball Match
ATHENS, Texas — Mississippi State’s volleyball team was swept by the Texas Longhorns in their season opener at Gregory Gymnasium on Friday night. The Bulldogs took an early 5-0 lead in the first set but ultimately lost 25-16, 25-21, 25-19.
Mississippi State rallied in the third set, tying the score 11 times and taking the lead at one point. Despite their effort, they could not complete the comeback, falling 25-19. Lindsey Mangelson led the Bulldogs with 14 kills and a .343 hitting percentage. Bernadita Aguilar, Paloma Routaboul, and Noella Obi each contributed five kills.
The Bulldogs recorded three total blocks, with Gha’Naye Whitfield-Moss accounting for 1.5. Mary Neal, Erin Kline, and Mangelson each registered one ace. Kline led the team with 18 assists, while Adriana Jeanpierre added eight. Defensively, McKenna Yates posted nine digs, and Neal added seven.
