Laterrius Haynes from Louisville is a very talented young man who closes on the ball very well. He is hardly ever caught out of position.
Yesterday I was able to attend the King of the Sip 7v7 tournament. I was very impressed with Haynes aka ‘Man Man’. A 2023 Safety out of Louisville High School.
Laterrius played LB and safety last year for the Wildcats. He is 5’11”. He is very fluent in his hip and moves around very well on the field. He has some great hands as well.
Haynes is very athletic. Last year he had 20 solo tackles, 37 tot, 4 TFL, 3 PBU, 2 Int, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 TD.
I think that Haynes has a good chance to play safety at the next level. He can even come down and play the nickel back position. He plays the flats well and he can keep up with shifty slot receivers with that good hip movement of his.
Another thing that stood out to me was how he stepped up and played receiver for MDU in the absence of a few players. He is very quick and has an eye for the ball. That shows you the type of playmaker he can be on a team. It shows his athletic ability.
“I love his size and athletic ability,” said Javancy Jones. Louisville’s defensive coordinator. “I also like the range he has to go long with his football IQ”
I think he has a great chance of helping a team at the safety position on the college level. He closes on the ball very well. I like the way he can make a play on the ball without getting a pass interference.
“I’ve been getting some calls from a few schools,” said Haynes. “I’m glad I’m able to play safety this year. It will allow coaches to see me play at the position I will play in college. I’m ready to be a leader on this defense and help get us back to where we were in 2020 when we won state!”
