The Mississippi State soccer program prepares for its third and final battle against a Tigers opponent when it travels to its neighboring state for a matchup with Auburn (5-3-5, 1-3-1 SEC) on Sunday, Oct. 9. The contest will kick off at 2 p.m. CT on SECN+.
The Bulldogs enter the weekend at No. 14 in the most recent Top Drawer Soccer rankings. State also received votes in the most recent United Soccer Coaches Poll.
“We are looking forward to the opportunity in front of us to rebound from Thursday night,” head coach James Armstrong said.
MSU hits the road for the third time in conference play. The trip marks the first time this season that the Dawgs will travel to the state of Alabama. So far in SEC road matches, State has yet to allow the host school to find the back of the net.
Auburn enters the match having recently beaten Kentucky, 3-1. The Tigers and the Wildcats entered halftime knotted at 1-1 before Auburn added a pair of goals in the second half, spanning across eight minutes. The Tigers limited the Wildcats to only three shots in the second half.
