Southern Miss Women’s Basketball Announces 2026-27 Non-Conference Schedule

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southern Miss women’s basketball head coach Missy Bilderback announced the program’s full non-conference schedule for the 2026-27 season, emphasizing challenging opponents designed to prepare the team for Sun Belt Conference play.

Bilderback noted the team will face in-state rivals Jackson State and Mississippi State at home, along with road tests at UAB and Auburn, to foster growth and competitiveness early in the season. The schedule aims to ready the team for the rigors of conference play, she said.

The Golden Eagles will host East Texas Baptist for an exhibition game at Reed Green Coliseum on Oct. 27. Their season opener is set for Nov. 2 against Mississippi Christian, which also marks the school’s annual Education Day. The team will travel to Auburn on Nov. 5 for its first SEC game of the season.

Southern Miss returns home on Nov. 9 to begin a five-game homestand, facing Mississippi Valley State, Jackson State, Jacksonville State, and McNeese. The homestand concludes with a matchup against Mississippi State on Nov. 22. The team then competes in the Iona Turkey Tip-Off tournament in New York on Nov. 27-28, facing Drexel and either Iona or UMBC.

Following a home game against West Alabama on Dec. 2, the team will embark on a six-game road stretch, including contests at UAB, Fresno State, Old Dominion, and VCU. The schedule concludes with a brief return home against South Alabama, a Sun Belt opponent, before the conference season begins.

The Sun Belt Conference slate commences with a game against South Alabama and continues through Feb. 26. The conference tournament will be held in Pensacola, Florida, from March 2-8, 2027.
