Jackson State University’s women’s soccer team earned two SWAC weekly honors after a 3-0 victory over Southern on Sunday at the JSU Soccer Field.
Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Osborn recorded her first shutout of the season, making six saves to help the Tigers secure the win. Osborn’s performance kept Southern off the scoreboard and contributed to Jackson State’s opening conference victory.
Junior defender Kianah Farmer earned her second SWAC weekly honor after she played all 90 minutes and helped anchor the Tigers’ defense. Farmer also scored the team’s first goal in the 38th minute, setting the tone for the match. Jackson State added two more goals to seal the victory.
The Tigers will travel to Grambling, Louisiana, to face Grambling State on Thursday at 5 p.m.
