Five Jackson State Soccer Players Earn SWAC Preseason Honors

Five Jackson State soccer players were named to the 2026 All-SWAC Preseason Team, the conference announced Friday. Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Osborn earned Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year and All-SWAC First Team honors.

Osborn, who helped lead the Tigers to the SWAC Regular Season Championship last season, played 14 matches and logged 1,129 minutes as a freshman. She recorded 49 saves with a .860 save percentage.

Midfielder Ryanne Hawthorn-Harper was also named to the First Team after scoring seven goals, including two game-winners, and adding one assist in 17 games. She played 1,376 minutes and contributed significantly in the midfield.

Sarah Portis, a senior defender/midfielder, was selected to the First Team after starting 18 games, scoring three goals and providing four assists. Kianah Farmer and Malayah Nuestro earned Second Team honors for their contributions last season. Farmer played 17 matches, logging 1,229 minutes, while Nuestro scored one goal and added two assists in just four complete games.

Jackson State is favored to finish first in the SWAC, according to the preseason poll. The Tigers open their 2026 season at home Wednesday against Mercer, with kickoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
