Belhaven’s Drew Groscost Named CCS Men’s Golfer of the Week

Atlanta — Belhaven University junior Drew Groscost has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Men’s Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

Groscost received his first CCS weekly honor following his performance at the Rhodes Fall Invitational in Tunica, Mississippi. The Olive Branch native finished 10th among 65 golfers, shooting rounds of 73, 72, and 74 for a total of 219, or 3-over par.

His efforts helped Belhaven place seventh in an 11-team field, finishing just seven strokes behind third place. Three of the nine golfers ahead of Groscost represented NCAA Division I Memphis. Groscost played the final 36 holes at two over par, recording 12 birdies and 29 pars. He never shot higher than 74 during the tournament.

Groscost ranked third in the field in par-3 scoring with an average of 2.92, playing the short holes at one under. He also tied for eighth on the par-5 holes at four under. His 219 tied the fifth-lowest 54-hole total in Belhaven history, and his 3-over score tied for third in program history relative to par.

This performance marks Groscost’s second top-10 finish of the season. He began his college career at the Greystone Fall Invitational earlier this month, where he tied for ninth place with a score of 148 (+4) after two rounds. Groscost has averaged 73.4 strokes over five rounds this season, with all rounds between 72 and 74.

Before transferring to Belhaven, Groscost competed two seasons at Jones College, earning All-Conference honors twice. The former Lewisburg High School standout was a four-time All-District, two-time All-State, and two-time Golf All-Star during his prep career.
