Belhaven Men’s Golf Finishes Seventh at Rhodes Fall Invitational
The Belhaven men’s golf team finished seventh at the 2026 Rhodes Fall Invitational on Monday at Tunica National in Robinsonville, Mississippi. The Blazers posted a three-round total of 893 (+29) on the par-72, 6,995-yard course, just one stroke behind sixth-place Centre and two behind a tie for fourth, according to school officials.
Host Rhodes University won the 11-team event with an 866 (+2). Belhaven opened with a 290 (+2) before shooting 305 (+17) in Saturday’s 36-hole session and closing with a 298 (+10) on Monday. The team finished the tournament 19 over par after 36 holes on Sunday.
Junior Drew Groscost led Belhaven individually, finishing 10th with a 219 (+3). His rounds included 73, 72, and 74, with the final 36 holes at two over par. Junior John McIntosh was one stroke behind Groscost, tying for 11th with a total of 220 (+4). McIntosh shot 71 in both the second and final rounds, with a 78 in the opening round.
Both Groscost and junior Whitt Welch shot matching 71s during the opening round, helping Belhaven post a team score of 282. Groscost’s second-round 72 and the team’s final 298 on Monday contributed to the team’s overall score. Welch finished the tournament tied for 21st at 225 (+9), while Doane tied for 37th at 231 (+15), and Raymond tied for 59th at 246 (+30).
Freshman Parker Church, competing as an individual, carded the lowest round of the tournament for Belhaven with a 70, including three birdies and one bogey. His effort moved him into a tie for 15th at 222 (+6). Sophomore Blake Broussard also competed individually and finished 61st at 251 (+35).
Belhaven led the field in par-3 scoring with an average of 3.15 strokes per hole. Groscost ranked third individually on par-3s with an average of 2.92, while Welch tied for fourth at even par. Groscost also added 12 birdies, tied for eighth in par-5 scoring at four under par, and McIntosh led the team with 13 birdies overall. The team accumulated 42 birdies and 146 pars during the tournament.
