William Carey Volleyball Splits Final Day at Faulkner Invitational
The William Carey University volleyball team went 1-1 Saturday at the Faulkner Invitational in Montgomery, Alabama. The Lady Crusaders lost to Reinhardt University 3-1 before earning a 3-1 win over Webber International, according to school officials.
In the first match, Reinhardt took the opening set 25-21 after building an early lead and holding off a late Carey rally. The Lady Crusaders responded in the second set, winning 25-19 to even the match. Reinhardt regained control in the third set, winning 25-21, and closed out the match with a 25-21 victory in the fourth set, officials said.
Carey rebounded in the second match against Webber International. The Lady Crusaders lost the opening set 25-21 but responded with a dramatic 25-23 victory in the second. They then rallied from a 24-22 deficit in the third set to win 25-24, sealing the match win. The Warriors led late in the fourth set but Carey secured the victory with a block and back-to-back kills, officials said.
The team is scheduled to return to action Saturday, Sept. 12, when it hosts Mobile in its conference opener at the Ben Waddle Complex. First serve is set for 1 p.m., according to school officials.
