Southern Miss to Face Ole Miss in Top-Ranked Baseball Matchup at Trustmark Park
Southern Miss and Ole Miss are set to face off Tuesday at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi, in a nationally ranked baseball matchup. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m., with coverage available via SECN+, radio, and live stats, according to the university.
The Golden Eagles, ranked No. 17 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, enter the game with a 25-11 record. They aim to snap a two-game losing streak. Ole Miss, ranked as high as No. 22, sports a 26-11 record after sweeping LSU last weekend.
This marks the 40th game Southern Miss has played at Trustmark Park since 2006, including a 13-6 victory over Ole Miss that year. The Eagles hold a 20-19 all-time record at the park, which also hosts a Frontier League team, the Mississippi Mud Monsters. The Eagles are 9-8 versus Ole Miss at the facility.
Earlier this season, Southern Miss defeated Ole Miss 2-1 in Hattiesburg on March 10. Tucker Stockman delivered a game-winning single in the ninth inning for the Golden Eagles. Starting pitchers Taylor Rabe of Ole Miss and Thomas Crabtree of Southern Miss combined for scoreless outings in that contest.
Current standout players include Seth Smith, who has a seven-game hitting streak, and Matthew Russo, who has reached base in 27 consecutive games. Freshman left-hander Bruce Littleton is expected to make his first start for Southern Miss against Ole Miss. The Rebels will counter with redshirt-sophomore JP Robertson.
Following Tuesday’s game, Southern Miss will host Texas State in a Sun Belt Conference series starting Friday at 6 p.m.
