Southern Miss Pitcher Grayden Harris Named Finalist for Ferriss Trophy

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Grayden Harris, a sophomore left-handed pitcher at the University of Southern Mississippi, has been named a finalist for the 2026 Ferriss Trophy, which honors the top college baseball player in Mississippi, according to university officials.

This season, Harris has compiled a 7-1 record with a 3.31 ERA in 13 starts. He has struck out 85 batters and walked 18 in 73 1/3 innings. Harris has pitched at least five innings in 11 of his starts, reaching six or more innings seven times.

Harris earned several weekly honors this season, including Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Pitcher of the Week, and a spot on the Baseball America Team of the Week. His standout performance was a 13-strikeout game in a 6-1 victory over North Alabama on March 7.

If he wins, Harris would become the sixth Southern Miss player to earn the Ferriss Trophy. Past winners from the school include outfielder Tyler Koelling in 2011 and pitchers James McMahon in 2015, Nick Sandlin in 2018, Tanner Hall in 2022, and JB Middleton in 2025.

The award ceremony will take place at a luncheon on Monday, May 18, at 11:30 a.m. at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame in Jackson. Tickets are available at msfame.com, according to the hall of fame’s website.
