Mississippi State’s Ace Reese Named to Baseball America’s Week 13 Team of the Week

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Mississippi State junior third baseman Ace Reese has been named to Baseball America’s Week 13 National Team of the Week, according to an announcement from the publication.

Reese posted a .632 batting average (12-for-19) during the week, with two doubles, three home runs, nine RBIs and six runs scored. His standout performance included a 4-for-5 effort with two homers and six RBIs in a victory over Nicholls State on Tuesday. He also went 4-for-5 against Auburn on Friday with two doubles and an RBI, and finished his week with a 3-for-4 game that included a two-run homer against the Tigers.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound player from Canton, Texas, also contributed defensively with seven assists at third base. He leads the Southeastern Conference in doubles with 21 and ranks among the top in several offensive categories, including third in RBIs with 63 and fifth in runs scored with 61. Reese also ranks sixth in home runs with 18, slugging percentage at .704, OPS at 1.134, and hits with 68.

This marks the third time a Mississippi State player has earned a spot on Baseball America’s National Team of the Week this season, joining pitchers Tomas Valincius and Duke Stone, who received the honor earlier in the year.

Other players named to the Week 13 team include Gavin Kelly of West Virginia and Ryan Niedzwiedz of SIU Edwardsville, among others.
