Southern Miss Baseball to Face James Madison in Final Sun Belt Road Series
The Southern Miss baseball team is traveling to Virginia for its final Sun Belt Conference road series of the season, marking the program’s first visit to James Madison. The series begins Friday at 5 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
All three games will be streamed on ESPN+ and can be heard on Southern Miss Sports Network affiliates and through SouthernMiss.com. The Saturday game has been moved up to 3 p.m., and the Sunday game will start at 11 a.m., both times Central.
Southern Miss, ranked as high as No. 12 nationally, holds a 34-14 overall record and is 18-6 in the Sun Belt. The Golden Eagles are second in the league standings, three games behind Coastal Carolina. They enter the weekend with a three-game winning streak after sweeping ULM at home to start May.
Under coach Christian Ostrander, the team has thrived in May, posting a 21-1 record in the regular season and winning 14 consecutive May games. The team has advanced to two Sun Belt tournament finals and twice reached NCAA Regional finals during his tenure.
Leading hitter Davis Gillespie is batting .326 with 12 home runs and 39 RBIs. Kyle Morrison has 14 homers and 40 RBIs, while Seth Smith is hitting .313 with two homers and 22 RBIs. Joey Urban and Matthew Russo are batting .296 and .293, respectively.
Starting pitcher Grayden Harris, a left-hander with a 7-1 record and 3.00 ERA, will open the series. He will be followed by right-handers Camden Clark (6-0, 2.83 ERA) and Camden Sunstrom (4-3, 2.32 ERA).
Following the series, Southern Miss returns home to host Georgia Southern on Thursday at 7 p.m. for senior weekend.
