The teams have been divided into two groups for pool play.
Mississippi State head coach Samantha Ricketts will coach the American Samoa squad, which is making its first appearance at the event. Several current and former Bulldogs are eligible for selection to the team, which will compete against Japan in its opening game. The U.S. Women’s National Team is in a separate group with Australia, Canada, and China.
USA Softball has a strong history at the International Cup, with an 83-8 all-time record and 11 titles since 2005. The U.S. team has won the tournament the last three years and has fielded a Women’s Elite Team three times, posting a 12-6 record. The tournament’s medal rounds are scheduled for Aug. 2 and 3, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the playoff stage.
