Ole Miss Women’s Golf Looks to Defend Cougar Classic Title in Charleston

The Ole Miss women’s golf team is set to compete at the Cougar Classic at Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, South Carolina, on September 7-8. The Rebels, ranked in the top 25 nationally, aim to defend their title from last year’s event.

Head coach Kory Henkes, in his 12th season leading the program, will oversee a lineup that includes returning standout Kajsalotta Svarvar and sophomore Mary Miller. Svarvar led Ole Miss with a 71.39 scoring average last season and earned honorable mention All-America honors from WGCA and Golfweek.

The tournament will feature 54 holes over two days on a course designed by Seth Raynor in 1925. Known for its firm playing conditions and wide, tree-lined fairways, Yeamans Hall is regarded as a classic example of traditional golf course architecture.

Participants include schools like Arkansas, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Miami, and Vanderbilt. Ole Miss finished second at the Boilermaker Classic earlier this season, with Lisa Herman finishing as a runner-up and Sophie Linder setting a program record with an 8-under 64 in the final round.

The Rebels are ranked 19th by Golf Channel and 24th by Golfweek entering the season. They advanced to the NCAA Championship last year, marking their fourth consecutive appearance in the national tournament.

Freshmen Ebba Lundqvist from Sweden and Jenks High School graduate Lisa Herman are making their collegiate debuts at the event. Fans can follow live scoring via the tournament’s official scoreboard.
