Ole Miss Women’s Basketball Signs Guard Jaida Civil for 2026-27 Season

Ole Miss women’s basketball head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin has signed guard Jaida Civil from Tennessee to join the team for the 2026-27 season, the university announced Wednesday.

McPhee-McCuin praised Civil, calling her “a star in the making” and expressing excitement about reuniting with the player she recruited out of high school. She added that Civil is a fierce competitor with potential to become a professional player, noting the Oxford community will embrace her.

Civil, a 6-foot guard, played in all 30 games for the Lady Volunteers last season, averaging 6.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists. She scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Oklahoma, earning her first double-double.

Rated a five-star recruit by ESPN’s W 100, Civil was the No. 13 overall player and the top small forward by 247Sports before college. During her high school career, she earned honors such as 2025 McDonald’s All-American, Florida Gatorade Player of the Year and MaxPreps Florida Girls High School Basketball Player of the Year. Leading Palm Bay Magnet to a state title in her senior year, she averaged 18.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 3.3 steals.

Civil joins fellow transfers Maya Anderson, Talaysia Cooper, Knisha Godfrey, Emily Howard and Rachael Okokoh, along with returning players Desrae Kyles, Lauren Jacobs and Sira Thienou. With nine student-athletes on the roster for 2026-27, Ole Miss continues to build its team through the transfer portal.

Fans are encouraged to purchase season tickets for the upcoming season, which marks the Rebels’ fifth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. The team maintains active social media profiles on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook and Instagram.
