Ole Miss Volleyball Overcomes Southeastern Louisiana in Five Sets

OXFORD, Miss. — The Ole Miss volleyball team opened the 2026 season with a five-set victory over Southeastern Louisiana on Friday night at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center. The Rebels (1-0) secured their first reverse sweep since last season’s win over Alabama.

Shayla Meyer led the Rebels offensively with 20 kills and nine digs, hitting .357. Jorda Crook contributed 19 kills, six digs, and three service aces. Freshman Jaidyn Hartsfield made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut, recording 10 kills off the bench. Cameron Bradley added a career-high 29 digs for Ole Miss.

The first set was tightly contested, with 16 ties, but Ole Miss ultimately lost 28-26 after a late rally by Southeastern Louisiana. The Rebels faced adversity in the second set, falling 25-17 as the Lions capitalized on mistakes. However, Ole Miss regrouped in the third set, aided by Hartsfield’s debut performance, winning 25-19 to extend the match.

In the fourth set, Ole Miss trailed early but responded with a 5-0 run, including back-to-back aces from Crook, to take a 13-12 lead. The Rebels closed out the set 25-19. The decisive fifth set was a back-and-forth battle, with Ole Miss pulling away late to win 15-12.

The Rebels return to action Saturday at 6 p.m. against Northern Arizona in the Ole Miss Volleyball Invitational. The match will be streamed on SEC Network Plus.
