Ole Miss’ Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan Makes History with Fourth Consecutive SEC Hammer Title
ALBURN, Ala. — Ole Miss senior Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan made history Thursday at the 2026 SEC Outdoor Championships by winning his fourth consecutive men’s hammer throw title. He is the first athlete in SEC history to achieve this feat, according to the conference.
Robinson-O’Hagan overcame early struggles, fouling his first two attempts and sitting in second place after four rounds. His fifth attempt, a throw of 72.69 meters (238 feet, 6 inches), secured the victory. He finished three feet ahead of the runner-up, Missouri’s Sam Innes.
His win came after nearly fouling out on his third attempt, which was legal at 70.79 meters (232 feet, 3 inches). Robinson-O’Hagan’s final lead was cemented when Innes fouled on his final attempt, sealing the victory for the Ole Miss athlete. This victory also ties him with Auburn’s Harvey Glance for the most SEC titles in individual sports, with 12 overall.
Robinson-O’Hagan, who began his SEC hammer dominance as a freshman in 2023, has an average victory margin of 9 feet, 2 inches in conference finals. His career includes two wins over teammates, with his 2025 victory by 23 feet, 8 inches.
In addition to Robinson-O’Hagan’s historic win, Ole Miss seniors Bryson Smith and Mason Hickel finished fifth and eighth in the event, contributing valuable points. Junior Akaoma Odeluga earned bronze in the women’s hammer with a personal best of 67.19 meters (220 feet, 5 inches). Her performance ranks fifth in Ole Miss history and marks her fifth SEC medal.
Other notable performances include sophomore Skylar Soli finishing ninth in the women’s hammer and seniors Kidus Misgina and Aiden Britt scoring in the men’s 10,000 meters. On the track, Urrutia and Armstrong qualified for Saturday’s finals in the 200-meter dash and 800 meters, respectively.
Ole Miss stands atop the men’s team standings after day one with 21 points, while the women’s team is third with 6 points, behind Alabama and Florida. The championships continue Friday with the women’s shot put final.
