Oxford, Mississippi – Ole Miss softball announced that incoming freshman Avery Tucker has been chosen for the Canadian national team, according to Softball Canada. Tucker is one of 16 athletes named to the roster, along with two alternates.
Tucker joins Team Canada as it prepares for the 2026 WBSC Softball World Cup group stage in Prague, Czech Republic. The team is placed in Group A, alongside Australia, Chinese Taipei, Cuba, Czech Republic, and Italy. Canada’s first game is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, at 12 p.m. local time, or 5 a.m. Central Time, at Svoboda Ballpark.
Advancing from the group stage, the top two teams from each of the three groups, along with two wild card teams, will qualify for the 2027 Women’s Softball World Cup in Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. The tournament runs from April 5 to 11, 2027.
Team Canada will also compete in exhibition games against Japan and participate in upcoming events such as the Canada Cup in Vancouver from July 4 to 14 and the Oklahoma City World Cup from July 27 to August 4.
Tucker, ranked as the No. 90 player nationally by Softball America at the time of her signing, is a highly regarded prospect. She has earned first-team All-Region and All-State honors four times and previously played for the Canadian U-18 Women’s National Softball Team. She also plays for her club team, Texas Bombers Gold.
Tucker comes from an athletic family. Her mother, Ardin, competed for Canada in track and field, while her brother, Nate Riech, represented Canada in Paralympic sports. Tucker’s addition to the Rebels enhances their roster ahead of the upcoming season.
