Ole Miss Softball Incoming Freshman Corey Goguts Named Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year

OXFORD, Miss. — Incoming Ole Miss softball recruit Corey Goguts has been named the Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year, recognizing her outstanding high school career at Hewitt-Trussville High School, according to a university release.

Goguts, a highly touted prospect ranked 82nd nationally by Softball America, hit .618 with 29 home runs, 91 RBIs, 109 runs scored, and 32 stolen bases during her senior season. She posted an on-base percentage of .712 and helped lead her team to a 7A state championship.

The award is part of the Gatorade Player of the Year program, which annually recognizes top high school athletes across the country in 12 sports. The selection committee considers input from coaches, scouts, and media. Goguts is one of 11 future Rebels set to join the program this fall, with head coach Jamie Trachsel signing the No. 7 recruiting class nationally, according to Softball America/On3.

Goguts is not the only incoming Rebel to earn a Gatorade honor; fellow freshman Jada Savage received Georgia’s award in 2025 before signing with Ole Miss. The university’s softball program continues to attract top talent as it builds a competitive roster for the upcoming season.
