Ole Miss Players Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy Named to Walter Camp Preseason Watch List

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Walter Camp Football Foundation announced its preseason watch list for the 2026 Player of the Year award on Monday, including Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy. The Rebels are one of nine programs with multiple players on the list, which recognizes college football’s top athletes.

Chambliss, a semifinalist for the award in 2025, returns as one of the top quarterbacks in the nation. Last season, he passed for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns and added 527 yards with eight scores on the ground. He has received several preseason honors, including inclusion on the Maxwell Award watch list, first-team All-American honors from On3, and preseason all-SEC teams from multiple outlets.

Lacy, a Dallas native, set program records with 1,567 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns in 2025, earning first-team All-American honors and being a finalist for the Doak Walker Award. His preseason resume includes placement on the Maxwell Award watch list, first-team All-America honors from Walter Camp, ESPN, Athlon, and Phil Steele, as well as first-team all-conference recognition from numerous outlets.

The semifinalists for the Walter Camp Award will be announced in early November, with three finalists revealed in early December. The award winner will be announced in the second week of December.

Ole Miss is set to open its 2026 season on Sept. 6 against Louisville at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Central Time.
