Ole Miss announced Thursday that Nathan Griffin has been hired as an assistant coach for its men’s and women’s golf teams. The university’s head coaches, Chris Malloy and Kory Henkes, made the announcement.
Griffin arrives at Ole Miss after three seasons at Troy University, where he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. During his tenure, Troy’s teams earned 21 top-five finishes, five tournament victories, and placed fourth at the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship Urbana Regional, according to the university.
“I’m excited to welcome Nathan to Oxford,” Malloy said. “In his short time in coaching, he has developed a reputation as one of the up-and-coming coaches in the country. His leadership and commitment to player development will help our players grow and succeed on and off the course while continuing to elevate our program to new heights.”
Henkes praised Griffin’s energy and recruiting skills, saying, “His energy, recruiting ability, player development experience, and passion for the game makes him an outstanding addition to Ole Miss. We’re excited to welcome him to Oxford and look forward to the impact he’ll have on both our men’s and women’s golf programs.”
Griffin also worked with the Alabama Junior Golf Organization, and previously assisted with operations and administration at Auburn University’s golf programs. He served as a graduate assistant at Jacksonville State and worked at Cider Ridge Country Club as a teaching assistant and assistant professional. A former collegiate golfer at Faulkner University, Griffin was a three-time all-academic team member and Dean’s List honoree. He earned a bachelor’s degree in sport and fitness management in 2021 and a master’s in sports management in 2022.
He expressed enthusiasm about joining Ole Miss, saying, “The history, pedigree, and future of golf at Ole Miss is electrifying! I look forward to working with Coach Malloy and Coach Henkes as well as the world-class athletes on their respective teams.”
