Ole Miss Coach Chris Malloy Celebrates SEC Golf Championship

Ole Miss head men’s golf coach Chris Malloy called his team’s SEC championship victory a ‘special week,’ marking a career milestone and a major accomplishment for the Rebels. Malloy, a former Ole Miss player, said the win reminded him of a similar moment during his coaching career at Florida State in 2010.

The Rebels secured the title after three days of stroke play and match play victories over top-ranked teams, including No. 1 Auburn and No. 2 Florida. Malloy praised his team’s resilience, especially after losing key players earlier in the semester and facing tough weather conditions.

Since taking over as Ole Miss head coach in 2014, Malloy has aimed to build a top-tier program. He expressed pride in leading the Rebels to their first SEC championship since he returned to his alma mater. The team’s lineup featured seniors Tom Fischer, Cameron Tankersley, Cohen Trolio, junior Collins Trolio, and freshman Daniel Tolf.

Malloy, who played for Ole Miss from 1999 to 2000, said the victory is a testament to the program’s growth and his unwavering vision. “I love Ole Miss with all my heart,” he said. “This makes it even more special. I’m Ole Miss through and through.”

The Rebels now look ahead to the NCAA Regionals, scheduled for May 6. They aim to continue their success and aim for a top finish at the NCAA Championships, which follow later this month, according to team updates. Malloy emphasized the team’s focus on future goals despite the historic win.
