NWCC women’s basketball sends three players to four-year programs
Senatobia, Miss. — Three players from the Northwest Mississippi Community College women’s basketball team are continuing their careers at four-year institutions, following a season that saw the team win the Region 23 Championship and qualify for the NJCAA Division II national tournament.
Alorian Story will transfer to the University of Tennessee at Martin, where she will join the Skyhawks. During her time at NWCC, she averaged a double-double with 15.2 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. The Skyhawks finished the 2025-26 season with a 13-17 overall record and a 9-11 mark in Ohio Valley Conference play. UT Martin was eliminated in the first round of the conference tournament.
Dekyra Mitchell is headed to Alcorn State University, where she will join the Lady Braves. In her sophomore year at NWCC, she led the team with an average of 16.9 points per game and was the top three-point shooter with 80 made shots on 260 attempts. Mitchell also ranked second on the team with 76 steals. The Lady Braves finished their 2025-26 season with a 17-14 overall record and a 14-4 conference mark, ending their season in the first round of the WNIT tournament.
Shiloh Hatch will join Mississippi University for Women for the 2026-27 season. She was a key defensive player for NWCC last season. MUW competes in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in NCAA Division III. Hatch’s defensive skills will be an asset for the Owls as she continues her college career.
